Munich Airport has officially appointed AVIAREPS as its representative in North America. This partnership comes when the US market has seen remarkable growth in passenger traffic, making Munich Airport the second most important international arrivals market.
In 2024, Munich Airport welcomed 3.33 million passengers traveling between Munich and various U.S. destinations, marking a significant growth rate of 10.7% compared to 2023 and a notable increase of 13% compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019. Between October 2023 and September 2024, U.S. residents constituted 54% of passengers on U.S. routes, indicating that approximately 1.8 million U.S. travelers flew between Munich and the USA in both directions.
Munich Airport has repeatedly been awarded the 5-star seal of quality for its service and quality of stay by the renowned Skytrax Institute and also ranks among the top 10 airports worldwide in passenger surveys for numerous years.
With its Net Zero 2035 strategy, Munich Airport has set itself the ambitious goal of ensuring that the airport's operations leave no more CO2 in the atmosphere by 2035 at the latest. The airport's focus on being a green mobility hub also resonates with environmentally conscious travelers. Initiatives aimed at reducing carbon footprints and promoting green practices are increasingly appealing to Americans who prioritize eco-friendly travel options.
Looking ahead to 2025, Munich Airport anticipates further growth in its U.S. market traffic. Discover Airlines will launch a new service in March 2025, between Munich and Orlando. This addition will mark the fifth airline to provide direct flights between Munich and the U.S., expanding to a total of 16 destinations in the US.
Thomas Kube, Vice President of Aviation Marketing, Munich Airport: "AVIAREPS brings invaluable expertise in the North American travel industry, and we are excited to collaborate with them to enhance our market presence. The U.S. remains a vital market for us, and we look forward to capitalizing on the growth opportunities ahead."
Edgar Lacker, CEO AVIAREPS: "We are honoured about the appointment as the official representative of Munich Airport in North America. The collaboration underscores our commitment to promoting Munich as a premier gateway to Europe and strengthening its presence in the rapidly growing U.S. market. This partnership reflects the trust and confidence that Munich Airport has placed in AVIAREPS to represent its largest intercontinental market."
